AB-TĀNIKO Collection

Introducing our Abstract TĀNIKO / TAANIKO Collection inspired by the use of Niho Taniwha (triangular teeth shapes) used in Maori cultural design work from weaving and tattooing and Maori Tapestry.  Taaniko is Maori Tapestry woven by hand, here we used one of the conceptual design elements used to experiment with design layouts while relating to niho taniwha. TAHI-TEKAU Collection

Introducing our TAHI-TEKAU Collection inspired by Maori Language (Te Reo Maori), to learn how to count from 1-10 (1 = Tahi, 10 = Tekau) in word form. Children (Tamariki) can learn and do their counting at bed time or on the weekends when Mum’s and Dad’s may want to sleep in. A nice and simple way to bring learning into your home or your wardrobe on a daily basis.

1 = Tahi  2 = Rua  3 = Toru  4 = Wha  5 = Rima  6 = Ono  7 = Whitu  8 = Waru  9 = Iwa  10 = Tekau

NIHO TANIWHA MULTI Collection

Introducing our NIHO TANIWHA MULTI Collection inspired by the use of Niho Taniwha (triangular teeth shapes) used in Maori cultural design work from visual arts, weaving and tattooing. Here we experimented with a sequenced repeat allowing the niho taniwha design to breathe with block colours (white, green) giving a different yet uniform layout. Sometimes different just equals different in a world of polarities.

Introducing our Abstract NIHO TANIWHA TANE MAHUTA Collection inspired by the use of Niho Taniwha (triangular teeth shapes) used in Maori cultural design work from visual arts, weaving and tattooing. This form is also used by many other indigenous cultures worldwide with their own similar or differing meanings. Colour-ways are inspired by the continuation of AOTEAROA collection version and the domain of TANE MAHUTA (Guardian of the Forest, Land) depicting green.
